Counselling is a talking therapy which provides a confidential and non-judgemental space between you and the therapist to explore any issues that are troubling you and stopping you from thriving in life.
I offer an integrative approach, which means that we will look at feelings, thoughts and behaviours, past and present, to explore how they connect and to help you gain understanding and awareness. This will allow us to work towards future goals that will contribute to enhance your wellbeing and allow you to enjoy and thrive in life.
To facilitate this exploration, I mostly offer:
Person-centred: you are the expert on yourself and possess the inner resources and skills needed. The therapist offers empathy, genuineness and a non-judgemental space. Counselling moves according to your needs and helps you navigate issues in order to gain self-awareness and access to those resources and skills.
Psychodynamic: allows for a deeper focus to explore what may lie beneath the surface, challenge together some concepts, and gain insight on how you see yourself in the world and with others. It connects with your past and your relationships in general.
Gestalt: working closely with what you bring in the room, in the here and now, being curious about what you feel in your body and how this connects with the mind, allowing for further insight and self-awareness.
I can also offer solution-focused to manage a short-term issue that may arise through the process. Finally, I like to use creative resources on occasion, if you are open to it and feel it can help you, as I find it can open doors and facilitate greater insight.
I work within the BACP’s ethical framework, I am insured to work privately, attend CPD courses and have regular supervision.
